Yeaterday I had a great ride with Kelsey, and it really did help to have someone else along on my rides....I asked her if she wanted to take Kiki out with me....she said she'd catch up with me when she could...but go get tacked up and afterwards we could have a tack cleaning party.
I went to fetch Kiki....she was out in the back pasture along with Prayer...I whistled and Kiki looked at me. Great! This was not going to be fun. I slid her halter up my arm and began the chase. We played tag for what seemed like ever...I'd get just close enough to touch her then she'd trot off, and start graxing with Prayer again. Prayer was not helping either! She was in high spirits and looked like she had a lot of excess steam to work off.
Finally I went up to the barn and got a little bucket of grain. All I had to do was shake it and both the mares came running! I laughed and then popped Kiki on the nose as she kicked out at Prayer...when it came to food she did not mess around. I sighed and oushed Prayer away from the fence and slipped the now agravated Kiki's halter on.
I gave Prayer the grain and Kiki just glowered at me! Oh well, if she was good some horse trats would be on their way.
Kiki was filthy and as I groomed her big chunks of the pasture's mud fell off of her. I finally finished grooming and tacked her up. She looked like a true show horse with her boots and (for the time being) glistening saddle. I led her out to the mounting block and made my way up to the jumping ring....maybe Kelsey would give me a mounted lesson...
