Since I haven't been to the barn in like forever, I was especially excited to see that Allie was there too, attendting to Zen.
I went to Rocky's stall and grabbed his leather halter from the hook. I walked out to the pasture where he was being kept with Barb. I saw his flaxen tail swishing in the run-in shed. I clucked to him and he perked his ears up a trotted towards me. Barb couldn't of cared less.
I unchained the gate as I greeted Rocky. I was so happy to see him. I couldn't wait to get out there and brush up on our hunter skills. I slipped the halter over his ears and clipped it shut. I led him out and turned him around to I could chain the gait again.
As we walked to the barn, Rocky tried to get grass many times, but only succeeded once. I patted him as I crosstied him in the wash stall in the back of the barn. Then I went to the tack room to get my grooming supplies.
I walked into the tack room to find everything moved around. My saddle was on the other side of the room and my bridle had been moved along with it. My trunk must of been to heavy to move, because that remained where I had left it. I opened the lid and reached in for my tack box. I picked it up and brought it out to Rocky.
Rocky was standing sleepily on the crossties. I got out my dandy brush and proceeded to brush off all of the lose mud and dust off of his golden coat. Then I got my hoof pick and got all of the stones, poop, and mud out of those. I took a face brush to his face and got all of the dirt off of there too. Then I fly sprayed him until it looked like he had been sweating.
I went back into the tack room and put my tack box away. I grabbed my navy saddle pad, bounce pad, Eskadron jumping boots, Pessoa Rodrigo GenX Close Contact Saddle in Neco saddle, Professional's Choice SMX English Girth, Henri de Rivel Plain Raised Bridle, and Pessoa A/O Fancy Stitched Raised Martingale. I shuffled back to Rocky, barley able to see over the excess amount of tack I was carrying.
I layed all of the stuff on the ground and started to tack up. First the saddle pad, then bounce pad, then saddle, then I did up the girth on the right side, then left. Next was the bridle. I undid the crossties, slipped the reins over his head, took off his halter, forced the bit into his mouth, and put the headstall over his ears. Then I did up the noseband and the throat latch. I put the halter on over his bridle and crosstied him again so I could go and put on my helmet, gloves, and half chaps.
I went into the tack room a last time and put on my GPA Titanium helmet, my SSG all-weather gloves, and my Ariat Crowne Pro Half Chaps. Just in case, since I haven't ridden him in forever, I took my crop out with me.
Finally, I undid the crossties, again, slipped the halter off, and led Rocky to the jumper ring...
