Once in the crossties, I clipped Zen to the first set of them. Then I just used whatever brush was laying on the ground and brushed all the dirt and loosed hair off of his black coat. Then I took a face brush and got the dust off of the white on his face. He flinched a little, but I made him keep his head down.
After brushing, I went into the tack room and got out my Pessoa A/O English Saddle w/ Herm Springer stirrup irons, Pessoa A/P girth, Dover Saddle Pad, and Pessoa martingale. I lugged all of that stuff out to Zen.
To my suprise, Zen looked half asleep, leaning on the crossties. First I put on the pad, then laid the saddle gently on his back, since hes sensitive in that area. Then I walked aroun to his right side and did up the girth to the 3rd hole. Then, carefully, did up the left side, making sure he didnt freak out on account of him being "cinchy".
Then I walked back into the tack room and got my GPA Titanium helmet, SSG gloves, chaps, Zen's bridle w/ the Figure 8 noseband, Eskadron anlke boots and bell boots. I had to make 2 trips for all of that crap.
First I put on his bell boots, then the ankle boots. Then I put on my chaps and helmet and put my gloves in my back pocket. After that, I grabbed his bridle off of the ground, undid the cross ties, put the reins over his neck, took off his halter and put it on the hook, and put the bridle over his ears. Then I buckled the noseband, flash, and throatlatch.
Finally, I gave Zen a pat (for being so paitient) and led him out ot the ring...
