I led Fly over to the mounting block and got on. He definetly felt ready to go. Once around the ring at a walk and once around at the trot. I brought him back to the walk to get him ready to canter to the 1ft cross rail that was set up. Joy was giving me my lesson. I gathered my reins and asked Fly to canter. 1, 2, 3 steps of the trot and off we went. I turned to the left, getting myself set up for the jump. The little baby cross rail barley qualifies as a jump, but Fly took a long spot and made it feel like we were going over a 3ft triple bar! "You need to collect more before the jump" Joy told me. I nodded my head and got myself set up agian. 1 stride, 2 strides, 3 strides, jump! A huge smile spread across my face! It was a perfect distance! "Good! I think he's warmed up. Let's do a vertical" I walked around the gigantic, olympic sized jumper ring while Joy made a vertical using to very detailed standards and a very colorful pole. 2ft was the height. Once again, i got myself set up for the jump. A little deep, but we cleared it. "Now you're holding too much" Joy said to me. I nodded, again, and got myself set up, again. A perfect jump, again! I gave Fly a big pat. It was hot that day and he was already starting to sweat. We ended that great lesson with a 4.3' oxer(back rail) I knew i was improving! I can't wait to ride again.
